Why do companies monitor? They want to maximize productivity and also retain current employees. So, they are pushed to behave like detectives and psychologists...Want to know the various ways in which you can be monitored at office?
Employers can
- see your monitor on their laptop screens and even control your mouse movements
- steal the passwords of your personal mail accounts, LinkedIn, Orkut, Naukri profiles, personal blogs and then check or track all your personal accounts
- make phone calls posing as recruiters and find out if you are looking for jobs or freelance opportunities
- install pin hole (invisible cameras) in different places and see the video in their laptop or PC screen. Such cameras can be installed in bathroom mirrors, flower vases, and even hair dryers!!!
- use IP address to monitor your work even if you work from home
- count the number of your keystrokes - and hence know if you are really working or just sitting in front of the computer
- view all the websites you see and items in the website you click
- download cookies in your PC and capture important data and monitor your chat window to check if you are "Busy" or offline(gossiping etc)!!!
- keep a bug(mike) in critical places,such as, Lunch tables or even near your workspace and listen/record to all conversations you engage in
- bug and record conversations over mobile/cellphones or even landline phones
- get a copy of all your mails and even modify your mail content
- get a copy of your all your SMS
- use a detective agency during background verification check
- use their old, long term, and loyal employees to talk with you and collect all types of information about you!!!
