Employee Engagement - A buzzword for Retention

Employee engagement is a term used to describe how involved or committed an employee is to an organization. These days employees just "date their jobs and do not marry jobs." If someone expects a person to stick to an organization from "cradle to grave" - they have mental arthritis. Moreover, a highly skilled employee is more concerned about work and client rather than the company he/she works for.In such scenarios, transparency in the management plans and business processes ensure employee engagement.

A research shows that the productivity of an engaged employee is 25% higher than an employee who is mentally outside the company. A 'psychological recession' in employees is common today as management focuses more on bottomline and shareholder profits. So management should follow a policy of inclusiveness and include their employees in business decisions.

A participative management style should enable employee engagement. Benefits such as trainings, paid vacations, and other types of entertainment surely brings about employee engagement. Companies in India and China should gear up as the employee engagement levels are lowest here!!! Good luck to all managers and CEOs to engage their associates ;-)
