How to Design a Logo?

Once i was asked to give ideas for a logo. So, i happily churned out a series of diagrams and pictures with text, keeping the concept of the training program in mind. One of my colleagues laughed at my logo and told that a logo should have only alphabets. The picture is insignificant or of little importance.

Another colleague had a nice suggestion for designing a logo. He asked us to use the Thesaurus to find words that match with the "Logic Word" that you are trying to build upon. Then you have to use the new set of words and search for images in the Google. From the images displayed, you can get ideas for a background and fancy text for the logo.

One more tip that you need to remember is that the logo must be visible and clear in all sizes, either big or small. The logo must look clear on different media or interfaces such as print, web, or poster.
